Well Im just about done with all my classes, just two more finals to go then it’s break time. I kind of wish I could have taken summer school just to get some more classes out of the way, however Im going to be way to busy for that this summer. I can’t really turn down the shows that I have allready booked, especially since they help to pay my bills. Speaking of magic shows, I have been really getting into the new show on discovery channel about the universe. Stephen Hawking is the host of the show, and it’s pretty much all of his theories on space and time. If you like mysterious, crazy physics, then you should definitly check it out. I believe that is why I became a magician, just because I have always been into the unknown kind of stuff. Well im starting to ramble so Ill end it at that. Here is a preview of the show I have been watching,
Summer is almost here
•May 3, 2010 • Leave a CommentWell I was going to take some summer school classes, however I have allready booked quite a few shows for the summer so im gonna take a break from school. That won’t be bad though, I think I need a break, next semester will be here before I know it and then I’ll be ready. I have two more tests to do and then I have the summer off, so that’s not so bad. I haven’t worked on my new show recently, although Im going to have too for the shows comming up in the next two months. Well back to studying.
Last part of my math final!!
•April 30, 2010 • Leave a CommentWell tomorrow is the last part of my math final. I have been staring at algebra for so long that Ill probably just forget everything when I take the test tomorrow. Not much else is new, other then school is almost out!! I have got a lot of shows booked allready for this summer, which is why Im not taking summer classes. Ill take a break from school this summer, then when the next semester comes around Ill be ready to go back. Well I know this was kinda short, but im off to bed.
Math final tomorrow!!!
•April 27, 2010 • Leave a CommentWell it is that time for me cram all night long after I get out of comp 2 class tonight so hopefully I can get a decent grade on my math final tomorrow morning. Math is not my strong point, however I think with enough studying I will do ok. Part one of the final is tomorrow morning, then part two is Friday morning, I’ll be glad when it’s all over. All my other finals are next week, so at least Ill have the weekend to study for my other classes, earth science and Psych. All this studying has left me no time for magic, but hey, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I do have a new trick on the way, but I’ll post more about that later. Mean while, check out this trick, it’s called multiplying bottles. I got it about a month ago, just havent had the time to do anything with it yet.
study study study
•April 25, 2010 • Leave a CommentWell its that time again for me to be up all night studying for final exams. Not to mention the homework that I have to get done by the first of next week. Oh well, thats why I went back to college, if it was super easy I guess you wouldnt learn much. As far as magic goes, I probably wont be working on anything new until final exams are over. I have been booking some shows for the summer, mostly corporate and birthday party gigs, but every little bit helps when it comes to money,
. Well I need to get back to my books, plus I have an essay that I need to finish up, seeya
Fooled by a trick
•April 13, 2010 • Leave a CommentWell it has been probably 10 years since I have been fooled by a trick, let alone a card trick, but it happened. One of my friends that I hadnt seen in years came to my work the other day. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians just like I was, but I got out of it roughly about 8 years ago just because I have been so busy. Anyways he came by my work the other day and we talked about the meetings, magic, and all that kind of stuff. He told me he had been working on something and had me pick 5 cards at random, and believe me they were totally at random. Then without him looking at them he had me memorize one card out of that five and then mix them up. He then took the packet face down and put a weight on each card. With the backs of the cards to him, he showed me the first card and said that it weighs 8 pounds, the second was 7 pounds, third was 6 pounds, and so on. My card that I seen weighed 6 pounds, (pretend 6 pounds of course). He then held the cards in his hand and once I told him the pretend weight of my card he felt all 5 cards and found mine. Now I know It may not sound that impressive typing what he did, but here is why the trick fooled me. At no point did he ever look at the cards, at no point could he have possibly even known what my card was and on top of that, once they were mixed up I didnt even know where my card was. Well to make a long story short he shot me an email later on how he did, and its really cool. So it will be a new one that I’ll be adding to my close up show. After 10 years of never being fooled, it was kind of nice to be the spectator again.
Its the little stuff that I over look
•March 30, 2010 • Leave a CommentWell between homework and real life work, I havent had much time for magic. I have worked on some new tricks here and there but haven’t really done anything major. I recently found out that one of my friends from the magic ring that I use to go to when I was in high school has an online magic shop out of Evansville. I have spoke of that before but this time I actually ordered something that I have needed for as long as I have been in magic but never went through with it. When a magician goes out to either perform or just to hang out, at say a bar or a club, the first thing they will normally grab will be a deck of cards. I am no exception. Once people know your a magician in a small town then no matter where you go you will be asked to do a trick and you need to be prepared. So, a deck of cards is an easy thing to carry and I could probably do an hour show with just a deck of cards. The only problem is when you put the cards in your back pocket, they get all crushed and messed up when you sit down. Well, in order to solve that problem they make what they call a card clip, it is just simply a metal sleeve that goes over your cards to protect them while they are in your pocket. That way when you pull your cards out they are as crisp as they were before you put them in your pocket. Well you would think that being somebody that always carries cards on them would have had one of those for years, right? Nope, not me, for some reason I never got one and always crushed my cards while I was out, I mean they still worked fine, but seriously, its time to get one, so I did. Well I know that wasn’t any kind of ground breaking info but its all I got right now, I have been working out at the gym and running so usually by about 11 or 12 im ready for bed, unless Im going out with some friends with a deck of cards in my pocket
.
busy busy busy
•March 2, 2010 • Leave a CommentWell as my heading states, I have been super busy today. Got up at seven and started on some math work, then went to earth science class. After that I went to lunch, then headed back to the science building for an all day math a thon in the math lab. I am just trying to get my grades up as high as I can for mid term. Now I am about to head to comp 2 class, and then after that its back on my computer at home to do somemore work. I haven’t managed to check my email at all today, I am awaiting confirmation on a couple magic props that should be here about anytime now. I am actually going to evansville to pick them up, one of my good friends owns an online magic shop in evansville, so I decided to keep the business local. Well im off to get more stuff done, there just isn’t enough hours in the day.
Homework and real work
•March 2, 2010 • 1 CommentWell here latley I have been just swamped with my day job and school. Seems like I can’t get ahead, but oh well you only live once so you might as well stay busy. The only problem is that I don’t have time to work on my new show as much as I would like. Between homework, tests, and my day job thats about all I have time for at the moment. I even turned down a magic show gig the other day because I just didn’t have the time to do it, and that is something that a magician never likes to do. It’s not so much the fun of doing the show, but the money that you make during that forty five minutes to an hour that a magician doesn’t like to turn down. Well thats just the way it is, and I am glad I am back in school, but I will also be glad for a break. Here is an illusion that I have been working on, it’s called Tarantula by Yigal Mesika. This is him performing it, enjoy!
The new show is gradually comming together
•February 24, 2010 • Leave a CommentWell Im redoing my entire show. Not just some things, but everything. It cost’s money and time, but it will be worth it. I have had the same show for literally 8 years now and I could do it blindfolded. So im excited about making a new one. Most of my new magic tricks are flashier and more eye popping then what was in my last show. I am also going to add music to my small show which I never did before. Ill be adding more fire, smoke, and mirrors so to say. Still not going to make a tiger appear, (might be kinda dangerous in kid shows), but I will be using some live birds. Magic advances as fast as computers do, so its time I changes things around.
